Promoting Dirty Energy
Senate Roll Call Vote 50
Issues: Dirty Energy, Climate Change

Senator Dan Sullivan (R-AK) sponsored an amendment to S.Con.Res.5, the Fiscal Year 2021 Budget Resolution, which would create a deficit-neutral reserve fund to expand the use and availability of natural gas as a fuel source.  This amendment would continue our dependence on fossil fuel economies and further entrench state budgets with oil and gas receipts so that our schools and hospitals are reliant on revenue from an industry that is exacerbating climate change and poisoning communities.  For this reason, many western states are taking steps to reduce their reliance on fossil fuel revenues and capitalize on continued growth in other industries, including outdoor recreation and renewable energy.  On February 5, the Senate rejected the Sullivan amendment by a vote of 51-49 (Senate roll call vote 50).  NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT RESPONSE.
