Setting Roadblocks for EV Deployment
Senate Roll Call Vote 355
Issues: Climate Change, Air, Environmental Justice, Clean Energy

Senator Ted Cruz (R – TX) offered an amendment to S.Con.Res.14, the Budget Resolution for FY22, which would prevent federal funding or incentives for electric vehicles (EVs) containing components manufactured in regions of China. While this amendment touches on an important geopolitical and moral issue, it does not provide the thoughtful, robust response we need to root out injustice around the world in supply chains. Furthermore, the bipartisan Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act that has already passed the Senate better addressed the issue. On August 11th, the Senate rejected the Cruz amendment by a vote of 50-49 (Senate roll call vote 355). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
