Diverting Land & Water Conservation Fund Money
Senate Roll Call Vote 18
Issue: Lands/Forests

Senator James Lankford (R-OK) offered an amendment to S. 47, the Natural Resources Management Act, also known as the public lands package, which would undermine the Land and Water Conservation Fund by diverting its funding to the national parks maintenance backlog. The amendment is a false choice between addressing LWCF and addressing parks maintenance, even though the two can work together to benefit our public lands. On February 7, Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) offered a motion to table the Lankford amendment, which the Senate approved by a vote of 66-33 (Senate roll call vote 18).
