Kavanaugh Confirmation (Supreme Court)
Senate Roll Call Vote 223
Issue: Judiciary

The Senate considered President Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. The Supreme Court holds immense power to protect our right to breathe clean air, drink clean water, and participate equitably in our democracy. Justices on the court have an impact lasting generations, and it is essential that they respect precedent, interpret the law in a fair and wellreasoned manner, and act as an independent check on the president. Kavanaugh’s record reflects a concerning preference for corporations and polluters over public health and the environment. In repeated rulings he has shown hostility towards the Environmental Protection Agency, seeking to strike down fundamental protections of our air and water. In addition to his environmental record, the credible sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh are disqualifying for a nominee to the Supreme Court. On October 6, the Senate approved Kavanaugh’s nomination by a vote of 50-48 (Senate roll call vote 223). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
