Kindred Confirmation (U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska)
Senate Roll Call Vote 41
Issue: Judiciary

The Senate considered President Trump’s nomination of Joshua Kindred to be U.S. District Court judge for the District of Alaska.  It is critical that the judges confirmed to serve lifetime appointments on our federal courts are qualified, non-partisan, and committed to treating parties fairly. As counsel to the Alaska Oil and Gas Association, a lobbying institution primarily advocating for international fossil fuel corporations, Kindred spent much of his career fighting for the expansion of drilling projects across Alaska and repeatedly argued against protections for Alaska’s air, water, lands, and wildlife. Kindred’s willingness to disregard scientific evidence to promote fossil fuel production calls into question his ability to fairly consider facts as a federal judge. On February 12, the Senate confirmed Kindred to the District of Alaska by a vote of 54-41 (Senate roll call vote 41). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
