Burgum Confirmation (Secretary of the Interior)
Senate Roll Call Vote 26
Issues: Public Lands & Oceans, Wildlife, Confirmations

The Senate considered President Donald Trump’s nomination of Douglas Burgum to serve as Secretary of the Interior. Under the leadership of the Secretary, the Department of the Interior is responsible for protecting the country’s most iconic and treasured public lands while working with local and Indigenous communities. Billionaire Doug Burgum helped organize the infamous dinner where Donald Trump offered Big Oil executives their wishlist in exchange for $1 billion. As the head of the Department of the Interior and leader of the newly-formed National Energy Council, Burgum will carry out Trump’s unpopular and dangerous dirty energy agenda. Burgum’s track record of putting polluters over people and public lands is an alarming indication of his willingness to ignore the interests of the American people, to the detriment of our natural and cultural resources - the ones he is charged with stewarding. On January 30, the Senate confirmed Doug Burgum to be Secretary of the Interior by a vote of 79-18 (Senate roll call vote 26). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
