Representative Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) offered an amendment to H.R. 6147, the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2019, that would prevent the federal government from considering the economic costs of climate change. This amendment is harmful for families, businesses, and the economy because it ignores the public health and economic costs of climate change. These burdensome costs could come in the form of rising healthcare costs, destruction of property, or increased food prices. This amendment prioritizes the interests of carbon polluters over people.
