Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) sponsored an amendment to H.R. 8998, the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2025, which would block funding for the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund, an unprecedented investment in and catalyst of private capital mobilization for community development and clean energy projects. The Fund's awardees have been selected to combat climate change, advance environmental justice, and accelerate the transition to an equitable clean energy future while also creating jobs and lowering energy costs for families. This amendment would prohibit the EPA from ensuring transparent and effective administration, implementation, or enforcement of the awards. On July 23, the House rejected the Boebert amendment by a vote of 208-211 (House roll call vote 384). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
