Prohibiting Defense Funding for Electric Vehicles
House Roll Call Vote 254
Issues: Appropriations, Clean Energy, Climate Change, Transportation
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) sponsored an amendment to H.R. 8070, the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025, which would prohibit any Department of Defense funds from being used for purchasing or contracting on electric vehicles (EVs) or electric vehicle charging infrastructure. EVs are helping our military transition to clean energy, boost resiliency and energy independence, and protect the environment by lessening harmful emissions. On June 12, the House rejected the Greene amendment by a vote of 173-241 (House roll call vote 254). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
