2023 Scorecard Vote
Representative Scott Perry (R-PA) sponsored an amendment to H.R. 4821, the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2024, which would cut all funding to the White House’s Council of Environmental Quality (CEQ). In addition to hobbling the administration’s work on environmental justice, conservation, and protecting communities from toxic pollution, the amendment would effectively eliminate the agency’s leadership role in standardizing and coordinating analysis of project impacts across the federal government under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). This would hamper environmental review, slowing down worthy projects and risking approval of flawed ones that could harm at-risk communities. On November 2, the House rejected the Perry amendment by a vote of 166-253 (House roll call vote 569).
