Attack on Scientific Integrity
House Roll Call Vote 525
Issues: Toxics/Public Right to Know, Other
Representative Chris Stewart (R-UT) sponsored H.R.1422, the EPA Science Advisory Board Reform Act, which would undermine the ability of the EPA’s Science Advisory Board to provide independent scientific advice to the agency. H.R. 1422 would undermine the integrity of the Science Advisory Board by allowing industry participation and making it more difficult for subject experts to serve on the Board. H.R. 1422 would also impose new burdens on the Board that would delay necessary public health and environmental protections. On November 18, the House approved H.R.1422 by a vote of 229-191 (House roll call vote 525). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE. The Senate took no action on this legislation.
