2023 Scorecard Vote
Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) sponsored an amendment to H.R. 4366, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2024, which would threaten our government’s ability to protect the public from the harm posed by many industries, including polluting industries. This amendment includes many of the misguided provisions of the so-called Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2023 (H.R. 277), which aim to halt the implementation of critical safeguards for workers, families, communities, and the environment, making industry even less accountable to the public. It would do nothing to improve protections for people in the U.S., rather it would benefit corporate polluters that wish to game the system and evade standards. On November 1, the Senate rejected the Lee amendment by a vote of 46-51 (60 votes were needed for passage - Senate roll call vote 283).
