2023 Scorecard Vote
Representative Troy Nehls (R-TX) sponsored an amendment to H.R. 4821, the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act of 2024, which would eliminate all funds for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Clean School Bus Program. Most school buses spew diesel pollution into the air, which is dangerous to the health and learning of 25 million kids who ride the bus to school every day. The Clean School Bus Program provides rebates and grants to school districts and other eligible entities to purchase healthier, zero-emission buses and infrastructure. This popular program has already awarded nearly $2 billion to help over 600 school districts across all 50 states, D.C., several Native nations, and territories purchase over 5,000 clean school buses. On November 2, the House rejected the Nehls amendment by a vote of 196-222 (House roll call vote 587).
