2016 Scorecard Vote
Representative Don Beyer (D-VA) offered an amendment to H.R. 5538, the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2017, which would have removed three damaging policy riders in the bill. These riders would undermine Endangered Species Act protections for the gray wolf, the greater sage-grouse, and the lesser prairie-chicken. This amendment would also block language in the bill that undermines a historic conservation agreement for the greater sage-grouse and would effectively give states control over 60 million acres of America’s shared public lands. On July 13, the House rejected the Beyer amendment by a vote of 193-235 (House roll call vote 463). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE. The House passed H.R. 5538 on July 14, but the Senate took no action on this legislation.
