Representative James Lankford (R-OK) offered an amendment to H.R. 4923, the Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2015, which would force federal agencies to turn a blind eye to the economic costs of climate change. Climate change already costs communities billions of dollars each year across the country, and this anti-science amendment would prevent the government from considering the costs of extreme weather and other climate change impacts or the savings from government actions to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon pollution. On July 10, the House approved the Lankford amendment by a vote of 227-191 (House roll call vote 389). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE. The Lankford amendment was not included in H.R. 83, the FY 15 spending deal (also referred to as the CRomnibus), which was signed into law by President Obama on December 16.
