1975 Voto de la Tarjeta de Evaluaciones
Energy Conservation and Oil Policy Act of 1975 (H.R. 7014). The vote is on Rep. Clarence Brown's amendment to delete from the bill the goal that American automobile producers must make cars that average at least 28 miles per gallon by 1985. Brown claimed that nobody knew how to achieve this goal, and suggested that the Department of Transportation set the standards for 1985 after additional studies. But the National Science Foundation has already shown that 28 miles per gallon efficiency is technologically and economically feasible not only in 1985, but right now. Moreover, the bill would allow DOT to reduce the mileage goal if it found it impossible to achieve on a fleet-wide basis. Rejected 117-284. September 17, 1975. "NO" is the correct vote.
