The Senate considered President Biden’s nomination of Bradley N. Garcia to serve as a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. The D.C. Circuit is frequently called the nation’s second-most powerful court due to its unique jurisdiction that includes review of regulatory agency actions, such as those of the Environmental Protection Agency. Federal judges serve for life and the laws that protect our environment and democracy need judges who will uphold and enforce them. Garcia is a former clerk for Justice Elena Kagan of the United States Supreme Court as well as Judge Thomas Griffith of the D.C. Circuit. He has a demonstrated commitment to civil rights and access to justice in the courts for the most vulnerable people in our society. Garcia also brings much-needed demographic diversity to the D.C. Circuit as the first Latino judge ever to serve on the nation’s second-most powerful court.
