House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (R-WI) sponsored H. Con. Res. 96, the Fiscal Year 2015 Budget Resolution, which would slash funding far beyond the already crippling sequestration levels for important priorities such as national parks, environmental safeguards, infrastructure, and health and energy research. While making drastic cuts to programs that protect our air, water, and open spaces, the Ryan budget would continue billions of dollars in subsidies to the oil industry and lower Big Oil’s tax bill even further by reducing corporate income tax rates. It would even sell lands that belong to the American public to benefit private energy companies. On April 10, the House approved H. Con. Res. 96 by a vote of 219-205 (House roll call vote 177). NO IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE. The Senate took no action on this legislation.
