2021 Scorecard Vote
Representative Susie Lee (D-NV) sponsored an amendment to H.R. 3684, the Investing in a New Vision for the Environment and Surface Transportation (INVEST) in America Act, which would require applicants for federal wastewater infrastructure funds to perform an assessment of climate change impacts on the proposed projects and incorporate measures to mitigate or reduce these impacts. Extreme weather fueled by climate change is putting immense pressure on the nation’s infrastructure, and it is critical that the historic investments proposed in H.R. 3684 go towards wastewater infrastructure projects that will be resilient in the face of increasingly severe droughts, floods, storms, and other climate-fueled disasters. On July 1, the House approved the Lee amendment by a vote of 220-200 (House roll call vote 206). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE. The Lee amendment was not included in the final version of H.R. 3684 that the president signed into law on November 15.
