The Senate considered President Biden’s nomination of David Uhlmann to serve as an Assistant Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance (OECA). OECA partners with state and tribal governments to enforce bedrock environmental laws such as the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, and the Safe Drinking Water Act, among many others. Uhlman is a promising choice for advancing environmental justice priorities and tackling the worst scofflaws based on his experience prosecuting criminal polluters at the Department of Justice’s Environmental Crimes Section. On July 20, the Senate confirmed Uhlmann by a vote of 52-46 (Senate Roll Call Vote 193). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
