2022 Recent Vote
Chair Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) sponsored H.R. 8294, “Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Agriculture, Rural Development, Energy and Water Development, Financial Services and General Government, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act, 2023,” also known as the Fiscal Year 2023 Minibus, which would provide strong funding to confront climate change, promote public health, advance environmental justice, and preserve public lands. The bill funds the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of the Interior at their highest levels in history, including funding for a Civilian Climate Corps, reclaiming abandoned mines and capping orphaned oil and gas wells, increased environmental compliance monitoring, enforcement, and cleanup, and $301 million for environmental justice activities, a huge boost over the previous fiscal year. The bill invests in clean drinking water and wastewater systems, honors the federal government’s responsibilities to Native Americans, funds critical wildlife conservation and endangered species programs, and equips our country with resources to combat record wildfires in the West. The minibus also removes long-standing harmful policy riders that attacked reproductive health, the environment, and campaign integrity. On July 20, the House approved H.R. 8294 by a vote of 220-207 (House roll call vote 383). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
