1976 Scorecard Vote
Energy Research and Development Administration Authorizations (HR 13350). The vote is on the Anderson amendment to eliminate provisions authorizing an additional $58 million for solar heating and cooling of buildings. In the past, the Office of Technology Assessment has criticized ERDA's program for failing to provide necessary money for staff and sufficient funding for specific programs. The original Jeffords amendment sought to solve these problems by providing the program with an additional $116 million. Anderson's amendment would have cut this increase in half. The sun is a safe, decentralized and renewable energy source available for heating and cooling, but it has been ignored by the energy industry, and its development impeded by inadequate government funding. May 19, 1976. Rejected 188-207. "NO" is the correct vote.
