Blocking Permanent Land & Water Conservation Fund Reauthorization
Senate Roll Call Vote 19
Issue: Lands/Forests

Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) offered an amendment to S. 47, the Natural Resources Management Act, also known as the public lands package, which would undermine the Land and Water Conservation Fund by limiting its reauthorization. The legislation would permanently reauthorize LWCF, but this amendment would replace permanent reauthorization with a temporary five-year reauthorization. From 2015 to 2018, LWCF authorization expired twice, putting in jeopardy this critical conservation program. Temporary reauthorization would increase the possibility of future LWCF expirations. On February 7, Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) offered a motion to table the Lee amendment, which the Senate approved by a vote of 68-30 (Senate roll call vote 19). YES IS THE PRO-ENVIRONMENT VOTE.
